That was a headline from the framed Detroit Free Press article that hung on the wall in the stairwell leading to the basement when I was little. That headline about The Brown Bomber is forever ingrained in my brain.
So what happened at the Joe Louis Arena on Monday night? GEEZ! Lord Stanley would be proud. "The Face" of the NHL, Mr. Sidney Crosby is proud. The NHL franchise is proud. (Surprisingly Game 3 had more viewers than the Pistons vs. Celtics game. Who knew?)
However, I am not. Now we have to win the cup in Pittsburgh, or drag it out to a game 7, just to make the late Joe Louis proud. I know what you're saying, 'a typical comment from a typical Red Wings fan.' You know what, reader - suck it up. I hope you're not one of those people who hate the Wings because they are 'the Yankees of hockey.' Feh.
GO RED WINGS!
(Zoe Shef-Getz is unsure who to root for because Doug is an Avs fan. barf.)

Actually, Zoe is quite hesitant because she remembers all the years of McCarty and Draper, all the cheap shots, all the talk of Scotty Bowman, and all the times Holmstrom should have been called for goalie interference.
And, I should mention, I've been whispering things like "Red Wings stink" and "$#%@! the chicken wings" in her ears while she sleeps.
